Biography


a) Charles Rodman


Charles is a registered patent attorney with special expertise in chemical and pharmaceutical technology and has more than 20 years experience in obtaining U.S. and foreign patents, trademarks and copyrights. 

 

Charles began his career in the intellectual property field as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  He then became a corporate patent attorney for a specialty chemical manufacturer where he obtained patents for fuels and lubricants; hydraulic fluid systems; antioxidant systems; phosphate esters; coating technology; flame retardant materials; food additives and wet process phosphoric acid.

 

Following his corporate experience Charles joined an intellectual property law firm where he was the primary attorney for obtaining patents relating to chemical and pharmaceutical technology, bio-medical technology, coating and binder technology, veterinary medicine, process engineering, metallurgy, and food technology.

 

His technical experience prior to entering the patent field includes positions as a process engineer in the aerospace industry, a chemical production engineer for an agricultural chemical manufacturer, and a marine engineer for the U.S. Naval Shipyard.

 

Charles is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School, the City College of New York (CCNY) with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, and American University Law School with a Juris Doctor.

 

Charles is a member of the New York, District of Columbia, and Maryland Bars and is a registered patent attorney before the U.S Patent and Trademark Office.

 

Charles is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, U.S. District Courts in New York and the U.S. Supreme Court.

 

Charles is a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Westchester County Bar Association and co-authored the article "A Practical Approach to Patents" published in the Westchester Bar Journal. Charles was also a college wrestler and was captain of the CCNY wrestling team.

 

b) Philip Rodman

 

Philip is a registered patent attorney with special expertise in mechanical and electromechanical technology and has more than 20 years experience in obtaining U.S. and foreign patents, trademarks and copyrights. 

 

Philip began his career in the intellectual property field as a corporate patent attorney with a household appliance manufacturer.  He then worked as a patent attorney in a law firm before reentering corporate practice as a patent attorney with a consumer products manufacturer.  Philip then became a partner in a large New York law firm where he participated in patent, trademark and copyright litigation and obtained patents relating to such subjects as tire technology, packaging technology, optical implants, traction machinery, and trailer equipment.

 

Philip’s engineering experience prior to entering the patent field included positions as a project engineer in the aerospace industry, and a design engineer for an aircraft manufacturer.

 

Philip is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and the City College of New York (Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering).  Philip also has a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and is a member of the New York, Connecticut and Missouri bars. 

 

Philip is a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, and U.S. District Courts in New York and Missouri. 

 

Philip is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and co-authored the article “A Practical Approach to Patents” published in the Westchester Bar Journal.  Philip was also a college wrestler and is in the CCNY Athletic Hall of Fame.

 

c) David Chen - Consultant


David is a registered patent attorney with special expertise in mechanical, electromechanical and material science technology.  He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science.  David also has a Juris Doctor from New York Law School.


David is a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the federal courts in Connecticut, and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.


David has extensive law firm experience as a patent attorney.  He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in numerous and diverse technical disciplines, such as surgical instruments, door and window hardware, manufacturing processes, materials technology, mechanical technology, computer software, business methods, electrochemical sensors, analytical instruments, clothing and footwear, electro-mechanical applications, telecommunications, foams and chemical compositions.


In addition, David has significant trademark experience preparing and prosecuting domestic and international trademark applications as well as managing international trademark portfolios.


David also has substantial contract experience relating to intellectual property.  He has prepared and negotiated agreements including license agreements, joint development agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, manufacturing agreements, asset purchase agreements and supply agreements.


Litigation experience is also part of David’s background, including trial work and motion practice in numerous Federal District Courts and Courts of Appeal, including the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

 

d) Norbert Gruenfeld- Consultant

 

Norbert is a registered patent agent with special expertise in pharmaceutical technology.  He is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of Pharmacy with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees.  Norbert has a PhD in medical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin and is also a licensed pharmacist.

 

Prior to entering the patent field Norbert was a senior chemist and senior staff scientist for a large pharmaceutical company.  Norbert then became a patent agent registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and has more than 15 years experience in obtaining patents for pharmaceutical technology.
